Thursday Morning at Daily Bread

They Slept Outside. Then They Came Here --> Selfie Videos From This Morning @ Daily Bread!

It’s 7:00 AM and we just opened the doors.

People are already coming in. Some of them slept outside last night. Some of them didn’t really sleep at all. You can see it in their faces. You can feel it in the way they walk in. Slow. Tired. Just trying to make it to the next thing.

And for a lot of them, this is the first stop of the day.

Coffee’s on. Breakfast is being served. Showers are running.

I’m standing here with a camera in my hand, trying to capture it, but honestly, it’s one of those things you kind of have to experience. It’s real. No filter. No polish. Just people waking up on the street and walking into a place where, for a couple hours, things feel different.

One guy just grabbed food and looked up and said thank you. Then he laughed when I asked if he wanted to be on camera. Most people don’t. And that’s okay. This isn’t about content. It’s about them.

Here’s what happens every single morning.

Someone walks in hungry. They get a hot meal. Not something thrown together. Real food. Coffee. Water. A place to sit for a minute.

Then they walk over and grab clothes. Fresh socks. Shirts. Shoes if we’ve got them. Stuff most of us don’t even think about.

Then they hit the showers.

Hot water. Soap. Shampoo. Razors. Toothbrush. Toothpaste. Everything they need to feel human again.

And here’s the part people don’t always understand…

Some of these guys go to work after this.

They wake up on the street, come here, eat, shower, get cleaned up, and then go work a full day. Then they come back out to the street that night and do it all over again the next morning.

That’s the reality.

Yeah, there are people who take advantage. We’re not naive to that. But there are also a lot of people who are trying. Really trying. And sometimes the difference between staying down and getting back up is just having a place like this to start your day.

I talked to one of our volunteers this morning while he was helping run showers. He said it simple. We’re here because we love these guys and gals. We want to know them. Pray for them. Help them get cleaned up and ready for the day.

That’s it.

That’s Daily Bread.

It’s not complicated. It’s just consistent.

Every morning. 7 to 9.

Food. Showers. Clothing. Prayer. Conversation.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, something starts to shift.

Not always fast. Not always obvious. But it happens.

People start to feel seen again. Start to believe maybe things could be different.

That’s why we’re here.

Not for a moment. Not for a one-time event.

But every single morning.

Because consistency changes lives.
