15 Apr The Power of Legacy Giving: Leaving a Heartbeat That Lives On
BLOG
Dear Friends in Christ,
As we walk further down the road of life, many of us begin to reflect—not just on the lives we’ve lived, but on what we’ll leave behind.
I’ve had the privilege of working in development at Christ’s Body Ministries, and I want to gently offer you something to consider: the impact your legacy could have on the Kingdom of God, long after your time on earth.
A Quiet Life, an Unshakable Impact
There’s a true story I often share with churches. A woman here in Denver faithfully attended the same church for years. Most people assumed she lived modestly on Social Security—and she did.
But when she passed away, her final act of faith stunned everyone: she left a gift of nearly $32 million to her church.
That gift allowed the church to build an entirely new ministry center—something that will serve generations to come. Her quiet life became an extraordinary testimony of stewardship and love.
She didn’t give out of abundance. She gave from conviction. She gave from the heart.
Giving That Goes On After You’re Gone
Legacy giving isn’t just about money. It’s about meaning. It’s about saying, “Even when I’m gone, I want to keep serving Jesus. I want my life to echo His love.”
Whether it’s through a simple will, a beneficiary designation on a life insurance policy, or a conversation with your family, your values can outlive you.
We believe that generosity is more than an event—it’s a way of life, a state of heart. And it doesn’t take great wealth to create a great legacy. It just takes a willing spirit.
A Conversation Worth Having
Many parents in their 70s and 80s have never talked to their children about what matters most to them. What causes stir their hearts. What they hope their lives stood for.
If something happened tomorrow, would your family know what you value? Would they know the ministries that carry your heartbeat?
Legacy planning begins with that sacred conversation—with your family and with God.
Your Heart Can Keep Beating Through Christ’s Body
If Christ’s Body Ministries has touched your heart, if you’ve seen the powerful, gritty, hope-filled work we do in downtown Denver with the homeless and hurting, I want to invite you to consider a lasting gift. A way to let your faith live on in this city long after you’ve gone home to glory.
Let’s talk. Let’s pray. Let’s imagine what your legacy of compassion could look like.
You can reach me directly through Christ’s Body Ministries. I’d be honored to walk with you through this journey.
With heartfelt thanks,
Jim Smith
