Serving the Homeless with Your Spiritual Gifts
When people think of volunteering with the homeless, the first thing that comes to mind is usually food or clothing. And while those needs are real and urgent—there’s another need that runs even deeper: the spiritual hunger so many carry with them on the streets.
At Christ’s Body Ministries, we believe in meeting people where they are—not just physically, but spiritually. That’s why we invite our volunteers to step into something more than just service. We invite you into relationship. Into ministry. Into the chance to bring light and life through your spiritual gifts.
One of my favorite parts of the week is a Bible study I get to do with two women. It’s not big, it’s not flashy—but it’s real. It’s raw. We open the Word together, we talk about life, and we see God show up. You don’t have to be a theologian to do this. You just have to show up and care.
There are so many ways you can serve spiritually here:
Lead or join a Bible study. Open the Word with someone. You’d be surprised how hungry people are for truth and connection.
Volunteer at church. Greet someone at the door. Sit beside them. Sing with them. If you play an instrument or have a heart for worship, come lead or simply be present during service.
Join the Men’s Round Table. Once a month, men who have transitioned off the streets gather to stay grounded in faith and community. These are guys with real transformation stories—but they still need people to walk alongside them. It’s like a life group rooted in shared experience and God’s Word.
At the end of the day, it’s not about having all the answers—it’s about being available. Being present. Listening. Praying. Sharing a Scripture. Sitting with someone in silence if that’s what they need.
Jesus met people with food, yes—but He also met them with truth, healing, and love. That’s what we’re about at Christ’s Body. If you’ve got a heart for Jesus and a willingness to serve, there’s a place for you here—not just in the kitchen, but in the Kingdom.
Come serve with us.
