Every week, our team at Christ’s Body Ministries goes where very few people do—far out to the edges of Denver, where resources almost never reach and hope is often in short supply. This Thanksgiving, we brought something special with us: a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings for the men and women staying at the Denver Rescue Mission Shelter and Samaritan House.

“My name is Paul Gonzalez, and I’m the outreach director here,” Paul begins in the video, standing between two shelters separated by concrete and long stretches of industrial streets. “These places are so far out that they rarely get resources, and they definitely don’t get meals like this.”

That’s why our team chooses to show up here—not once a year, but every Saturday.

Where Resources Don’t Reach, Ministry Does

For many who live in these shelters, basic services like hot meals, warm clothing, and spiritual care are hard to access. That gap is exactly where Christ’s Body steps in. We come with practical help, yes—but we also come with prayer, compassion, and conversations that point people back to the hope found in Jesus.

“It’s a great ministry we have going on,” Paul says. “These people get to be ministered to, which is something they lack when they’re in these places.”

On Thanksgiving week, that ministry took the form of a full feast—smoked turkey, Thanksgiving sides, and even “excess trimmings,” as Paul says with a smile. God provided everything we needed to serve hundreds.

“God Is Amazing in What He’s Brought”

The gratitude in Paul’s voice is unmistakable. “God is just amazing in what He’s brought,” he says. “We’ve got an incredible turkey dinner, and because of supporters like you, we can keep coming back.”

This kind of outreach doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because donors give, volunteers show up, and God opens doors that would otherwise stay closed.

Paul ends with a heartfelt invitation:
“We would love to have you come out and volunteer and help us do this every day of the week. We love you. Amen.”
