Take One Day This Summer

Good morning from Christ’s Body.

It is Friday morning, breakfast is being served, and the room is full of life. Volunteers are moving around, guests are coming through the doors, coffee is being poured, plates are being handed out, and the work of the ministry is happening right in front of us.

This is one of the beautiful things about Christ’s Body. Every morning, people show up with real needs. Some come hungry. Some need clothing. Some need a shower. Some need prayer. Some just need a safe place to sit for a little while and be treated with kindness.

And every morning, volunteers help make that possible.

During the summer, though, we often run low on volunteers. Our regular volunteers travel, take vacations, spend time with family, and step away for some needed rest. We are grateful for that. We want our volunteers to be healthy and refreshed. But when people are gone, we feel it here.

That is why I want to invite you to take one day out of your summer and come serve with us.

You do not have to be an expert. You do not have to know exactly what to say. You do not need years of ministry experience. You just need a willing heart and a few hours to give. There is always something meaningful to do, whether it is serving breakfast, helping welcome guests, pouring coffee, cleaning up, or simply being present with people who are often overlooked.

This is practical work, but it is also kingdom work. A meal matters. A smile matters. Remembering someone’s name matters. Showing up matters.

One morning at Christ’s Body can make a real difference, both for the people being served and for the person who comes to serve. I have seen it over and over again. People come down thinking they are giving a few hours, and they leave blessed by what God is doing here.

So this summer, come serve with us. Take one day. Bring a friend, your family, your small group, or just come by yourself. We would love to have you.
