22 Sep Celebrating What God Is Doing at Christ’s Body Ministries
There is a lot happening at Christ’s Body Ministries right now, and I wanted to share a quick update about what God is doing through this ministry.
Last week, we hosted an open house at Giving Heart Englewood, our second location. It was an incredible afternoon. Chef Monte prepared some delicious food, and we had the opportunity to spend time with volunteers, donors, church partners, staff, and friends from both ministry communities. More importantly, we were able to share the vision behind what we are calling “One Heart. Many Locations.”
Giving Heart has served the Englewood community for more than 15 years, and we are excited about the opportunity to honor that history while building a shared future. Although we now serve from two locations, our heart remains the same: sharing Christ’s love, caring for people in practical ways, and building relationships that remind people they are seen, known, and valued.
There is plenty happening at our downtown location at 850 Lincoln Street as well. We continue to make improvements to the building, repair things that need attention, and prepare our spaces to serve people well. On the day I recorded this update, more than 100 people came through our doors. Our team served meals, provided clothing and other practical assistance, spent time listening to people, and had the opportunity to share the gospel with several guests.
These are the moments that remind me why the little things matter so much.
Knowing someone’s name may seem small. Handing someone a hot cup of coffee may seem ordinary. Serving a plate of food, finding someone a clean shirt, offering a shower, listening to a story, or taking a few minutes to pray with someone may not feel like a dramatic act. But when those little things are offered consistently and with genuine love, they begin to add up.
Small things can make a big impact.
Practical care helps build trust. Trust creates space for relationships. Relationships give us the opportunity to listen, encourage, share hope, and tell people about the love of Jesus. A meal alone may not change someone’s entire situation, but it can become the beginning of a conversation that does.
That is the heart behind this year’s Annual Dinner & Concert on Friday, October 30, at Infinity Park Event Center in Glendale. We will be joined by our longtime friends Dave and Tara Powers of MountainCity, who will share an evening of worship and music that I believe will touch your heart.
Some people might call an evening like this a gala. We simply call it our Dinner & Concert. It will be a meaningful night of music, ministry stories, vision, and community. We will share stories of impact from the past year, introduce several short videos highlighting different parts of the ministry, and talk about where we believe God is leading Christ’s Body Ministries in the year ahead.
We will also share more about our vision for One Heart. Many Locations. This is bigger than adding another address. It is about carrying the same heart for people into more communities while remaining grounded in the relationships and small acts of care that have defined Christ’s Body Ministries for more than 35 years.
I hope you will join us on October 30. Single and couple tickets are free, with an optional suggested donation of $200 for a single guest or $300 for a couple. Come enjoy dinner, hear some wonderful music, celebrate the lives being touched, and learn how you can be part of what God is doing through Christ’s Body Ministries.
Together, we can continue doing the small things that make a big impact.
God bless,
