In the heart of Denver, where the needs of the community often outstrip the resources available, Christ’s Body Ministries is making an impact one burrito at a time. Tiffany Beckford, the Chief Operating Officer shares a glimpse into their “burrito brigade,” a volunteer effort that nourishes both body and soul.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday, a dedicated team of volunteers gathers to roll an astounding 600 burritos, adding to nearly 2,000 burritos distributed weekly. These aren’t just any burritos; they’re a symbol of care, compassion, and sustenance for those experiencing homelessness or hunger in Denver.
“Our volunteers work from 9:30 a.m. to around 11 or 11:30 a.m. to meet the demand,” says Tiffany. “Keeping up with this is both a challenge and a blessing, but the commitment of our team ensures these meals make it to the streets, where they’re most needed.”
The burrito brigade embodies the mission of Christ’s Body Ministries: to meet physical needs while also sharing love and hope. But to continue this vital work, we need more hands—and hearts.
If you’re looking for a way to make a tangible difference in your community, consider joining the team. As Tiffany says, “If you’d like to be a part of the team, give me a call or visit the volunteer section our website.
Get involved today and help roll out hope, one burrito at a time!
