A Cup of Coffee and a Heart to Serve

Every morning before the sun rises, one of our most faithful volunteers, Robert, is already at 850 Lincoln — grinding beans, brewing pots, and greeting our guests with a smile and a steaming cup of coffee. Around 5:45 AM, when most of Denver is still asleep, Robert is busy creating what might be the most important moment of someone’s day — a moment of warmth, dignity, and kindness.

When I asked Robert why he shows up so early, five days a week, his answer was simple:

“I love it. I love being here. I love being part of the Christ’s Body family and just being a part of people who really do care.”

That’s the heart of what we do. Before breakfast is served, before the showers start running, before the morning bustle begins, there’s already community being built — one cup at a time. Coffee at Christ’s Body isn’t just caffeine. It’s conversation. It’s connection. It’s hope.

Volunteers like Robert remind us that ministry doesn’t always look dramatic or complicated. Sometimes it’s just showing up — early, tired maybe — and being willing to serve with a smile. And that’s exactly how lives are changed.

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to make a real difference, I invite you to find out. Join us for Daily Bread, Monday through Friday, from 7:00–9:00 AM. Help us serve breakfast, offer a kind word, and share the love of Jesus in the simplest, most human way possible.

You might come to serve coffee — but you’ll leave with something far richer.
