Change Is A Slinky

In his book “Change is Like a Slinky”, my good friend Dr. Hans Finzel explains that change is inevitable; not adapting or changing to meet the moment could be devastating. The homeless and their needs are also changing. The city invests heavily in housing with its Housing First and new Job’s First initiatives. Meanwhile, we continue to promote Christ First.

At Christ’s Body Ministries, we are in a season of change, with new team members and new roles. We are filled with hope and optimism about the potential for a new facility, which could significantly transform the lives of the poor and homeless. This new space could provide a safe haven, expanding our reach and offering new opportunities for those in need. New programs and discipleship opportunities are also in the works, aimed at helping our guests to RISE, from tents to taxpayers and from new believers to mature followers of Jesus.

Our Mission remains the same: “Christ First.” Everything we do—feeding, clothing, showers, hygiene, haircuts, medical, and discipleship—is served with love in the name of Jesus. All our services reflect the passion, hands, and feet of our valued partner churches, donors, volunteers, staff, and Board of Directors as we serve our neighbors. Your support and involvement are integral to our cause and greatly appreciated.

Exciting news! On May 13th, we start serving Daily Bread at 850 Lincoln, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 to 9:00 am. Our mobile outreach will continue Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday. But that’s not all. We have a golden opportunity to double our impact. We are considering adding another day-shelter location near 20th and Lawrence. This expansion will require a significant investment of nearly $10,000 monthly and some tenant improvements for a new kitchen, showers, offices, etc., allowing us to double the daily meals and ministry impact.

“If we don’t change, we will die.” – Hans Finzel

Our team is brimming with enthusiasm for the future. We eagerly look forward to sharing more as new doors open and our plans take shape. Stay tuned for exciting updates!

Blessings!
